Diego nearing Wolfsburg exit - report

The relationship between Wolfsburg midfielder Diego and coach Felix Magath is at a breaking point, according to Bild.

Wolfsburg have reportedly decided that Diego will be sold for no less than €10 million and if a sufficient offer fails to materialise, the Brazilian will play with the club's reserves in the fourth division.

The story cites a meeting between Magath and club chairman Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, in which the coach explained that Diego must be punished for his insubordination.

The playmaker reportedly refused to be used as a bench player in Saturday's crucial match against Hoffenheim, which die Wolfe won 3-1.

The 26-year old Diego joined Wolfsburg last summer from Juventus for €15.5m. His contract was set to run until 2014, but it appears that he will not see out the remainder of his deal.

Possible destinations for Diego include Botafogo and his former club Santos in Brazil.

UPDATE: 14:45 CET - In Kicker, Magath wasted no time denying the Bild report, saying: "There is no decision. We all make mistakes."

"But it's no secret that to me order, discipline and physical fitness are essential to be successful in team sports," Magath added.

"I am willing to work with all those who go along with my way."
