Cenk Tosun admits it wasn't easy to pick Turkey over Germany

Promising attacker Cenk Tosun has revealed that it wasn't easy for him to make a decision about his international future, but has made it clear that he always felt 100 per cent Turkish, despite growing up in Germany.

"It was not an easy decision. I was born and grew up in Germany but feel 100 per cent Turkish. Talking with Guus Hiddink made a big impact on my decision. He said positive things and how he wants to see me in the future," Tosun said on UEFA.com.

"I also consulted my club president, coach and family before making a final decision. I played for Germany from under-15 to under-21 level. That was proof of the special value they hold me in, but I always said I would pick Turkey in the end."

The young attacker then went on to discuss his side's chances of making it to Euro 2012 and made it clear that Turkey have to settle for second spot in Group A.

He added: "We should be realistic and fight for second. Our fate is in our own hands: If we play to our potential no team can take it from us. Obviously there are hard games to come but we can do it."
