German-Born Cenk Tosun Eyes Turkey Call-Up

Gaziantepspor forward Cenk Tosun has been in sensational form since his arrival in Turkey and he is in line to make his debut for the Crescent Stars despite featuring for Germany at youth level, including under-21.

The 19-year-old left Eintracht Frankfurt in January and has been a revelation at the Turkish outfit, netting six goals in his first five games.

His eye-popping form has caught the attention of Turkey coach Guus Hiddink and the youngster is primed to make his bow for the national team.

“I had a meeting with Guus Hiddink and his assistant Oguz Cetin in Istanbul," he told uefa.com. “They made me the offer and I was really excited about it.

"I was absolutely shaking when they first suggested it because playing for my country was something I have dreamed of since childhood.

"I wasn't expecting it to go this well. My team-mates have helped me adapt quickly to the team and coach Tolunay Kafkas has had no hesitation in using me from the start," he concluded.

Gaziantepspor currently occupy fifth spot in the Turkish Super Lig.
