Bayern Munich breathed a collective sigh of relief on Monday when it was revealed that striker Mario Gomez has recovered from an ankle knock and will be fit to face Inter in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Following Bayern's 3-1 win against Mainz on Saturday, there were fears that Gomez would miss the Champions League clash due to an ankle injury. However, the player revealed his fitness in a press conference.
"I got a shock. [The ankle] was swollen but now it's okay. It will be no problem," he told reporters.
The news will certainly ease the nerves of the Bayern faithful; Gomez has been in scintillating form over the past few months, recording 30 scorer points in 22 matches. He will hope to take his best form to Milan on Wednesday as Bayern face off against Inter in a replay of last year's Champions
