Bundesliga outfit Schalke have successfully concluded contract negotiations with promising youngster Julian Draxler. The 17-year-old midfielder has signed a contract until the summer of 2014 with the Koenigsblauen.
Draxler made his official Bundesliga debut for Schalke in the 1-0 loss against Hamburg at the weekend and is considered to be one of the most promising youngsters around in Germany.
With 17 years and 117 days, Draxler is the youngest Schalke player ever to have made an appearance in a Bundesliga match. The attacking midfielder joined the Schalke youth academy at the age of eight in 2001.
Head coach Felix Magath is a keen admirer of the midfielder and it seems highly likely that Draxler will get more playing time in the coming weeks.
The young midfielder has already represented Germany at under-18 level on several occasions.
