A number of recent reports suggested that Patrick Helmes could leave Bayer Leverkusen for an adventure with fellow Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, but the Germany international now appears to be set to stay with the Werkself after all.
Bayer Leverkusen director Wolfgang Holzhauser has revealed that the Europa League hopefuls haven't received any offers for the 26-year-old Helmes and that they're keen to hold on to the striker.
"We haven't received any offers for Patrick Helmes and have no intention of selling him. He is a player who we consider to be an important part of the team, not just for now, but also for the future. Even though he's going through a bit of a difficult period right now, we don't want to sell him," Holzhauser was quoted as saying.
Helmes sits only 1310th in the Castrol Rankings following his limied first team action in the past 12 months.
His current contract with Leverkusen runs until the summer of 2013.
