Schalke coach Felix Magath has fuelled rumours that Jermaine Jones might soon leave Gelsenkirchen for Blackburn Rovers. Following his team's 1-0 defeat to Hamburg, Quaelix revealed that Jones is currently in England.
Speaking to LIGAtotal!, Magath explained the situation of his squad, which is currently overstaffed in certain positions.
"It's definitely a situation where we can let some players go and I would go on to say that one or two others will be leaving as well," he said.
Following sub-par performances in the fall, Jones, Alexander Baumjohann and Hans Sarpei were all demoted to the reserves, and having yet to return to Magath's side, could each be headed away from Gelsenkirchen.
Referring to the possibility of Jones leaving for Blackburn, Magath added:
"I assume that the talks have reached an advanced stage if he has already travelled to England. A shopping trip to London might be sensible at Christmas time but not in January. In this respect, a deal should be close."
