Edson Braafheid's spell at Bayern Munich went from bad to worse this weekend following a clash with coach Louis van Gaal. The Dutch defender has since been suspended, and is now expected to leave the club in January.
After Van Gaal criticised him for cutting his warm-up short in a recent draw with Moenchengladbach, the 27-year-old defender reacted angrily, according to Bild. Braafheid has since been suspended, and both club and player are hoping for a transfer in January.
"Only in an emergency will we include him in the squad," Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger told Munich-based news source Abendzeitung. "Both sides are interested in making a transfer during the winter break."
Since joining Bayern from Twente in 2009, Braafheid has struggled to make an impression. He spent last spring on loan at Celtic, but since returning has made just five appearances.
