Last season, Hamburg striker Jose Paolo Guerrero sparked great controversy when he threw a bottle into the crowd after a home game against Hannover which struck a supporter on the head. Now he may face further, more serious repercussions for his actions.
Guerrero received a five-game ban at the time for his actions, but the case was also referred to the Hamburg Public Prosecutor, who recommended court proceedings.
"The court will convene either this or next week to decide upon a date for the trial," court spokesman Conrad-Friedrich Mueller told Sport Bild.
Guerrero will have to appear in person in court and, if convicted, could face up to six months behind bars.
