Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg have confirmed that Paraguayan international Jonathan Santana will leave the club for Turkcell Super Lig side Kayserispor for an undisclosed fee. The midfielder has signed a two-year deal with his new club.
The 28-year-old Santana joined Wolfsburg from River Plate in the summer of 2006, but he never really managed to live up to the high expectations. He has made 41 Bundesliga appearances for the Wolfe and was farmed out on loan to San Lorenzo for six months in the 2008-09 campaign.
New head coach Steve McClaren recently told the midfielder that he's no longer needed at Wolfsburg.
Santana had initially set his sights on a transfer to Spain, but he's now decided to go for a Turkish adventure instead. The Paraguayan midfielder is Kayserispor's seventh signing of this summer after the capture of Selim Teber, Hamza Cakir, Abdul Ozgen, Ugur Albayrak, Aleksandr Amisulashvili and Andre Moritz.
