Gelsenkirchen outfit Schalke 04 have dipped into the transfer market once again, hours before the window slammed shut, by signing Switzerland under-21 star Mario Gavranovic from Neuchatel Xamax.
A report on Monday morning already suggested that the Konigsblauen were on the verge of signing the promising attacker, but the transfer has now officially been confirmed by Schalke.
The 20-year-old Gavranovic had attracted the interest of Schalke with his outstanding performances in the Swiss league this term. The versatile attacker has scored eight goals in 17 appearances for Neuchatel.
It remains unknown how much Schalke have paid Xamax to capture the youngster. Gavranovic has signed a contract until the summer of 2013 at his new club and could make his official debut in this weekend's away game against Freiburg.
