Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim will have to make do without highly rated midfielder Sejad Salihovic in the final league game of 2009 against Stuttgart on Saturday.
Salihovic underwent an operation in Berlin performed by Dr. Jens Krueger about a year ago to shake off a hernia. However, the 25-year-old has been plagued with groin problems ever since.
The Bosnian international opted to play through the pain barrier until now, but eventually decided to undergo surgery. Salihovic was operated on on Monday and will be out of action for several weeks, according to a report on the club's official website.
It is hoped that he will be able to return to full training in time for the second half of the season. Hoffenheim's first match after the winter break is the away game against Bavarian powerhouse Bayern Munich on January 15.
