According to the Berliner
Morgenpost, Amine Chermiti is set to be
loaned out to Al-Ittihad for a year after having spent only one injury-riddled
season at Hertha Berlin. The player was only utilised ten times last
year and never once was given a chance to start by coach Lucien Favre.
The speedy striker, whose contract with the German side runs
until June 2012, will get a chance to play in the Asian Champions League
alongside a former Tunisian league foe in Hicham Aboucherouane. Nevertheless,
his words regarding his departure do seem to indicate a certain level of disappointment.
“I would have gladly stayed to train but now I’ll go for a
year,” he stated while speaking to sport1.de.
The news has been met with great disappointment amongst the
majority of the forward’s supporters, who believed he was on the verge of making
his mark in Europe.
Nevertheless, some believe that regular first-team football
is exactly what he needs in order to regain his confidence and take his
rightful place in the Tunisian national team.
