Hoffenheim have clinched the signing of young Argentine star Franco Zuculini from Racing Club Avellaneda, the Argentine club’s vice-president Pablo Podesta has confirmed.
Werder Bremen were also reportedly interested in the player, but the Sinsheim club have beaten their rivals to the South American youngster.
A transfer fee of €4.6 million has been quoted in Kicker, with the Argentine club also set to receive 15% of any future transfer fees for the 18-year-old.
Zuculini is considered one of Argentina’s hottest properties and is highly rated by national team coach Diego Maradona.
The World Cup winner has previously stated that Zuculini could be a starter at the next World Cup and he has already handed him his international debut in a friendly against Panama in May.
