Werder Bremen starlet Mesut Ozil has thrown out the notion that he might yet choose the Turkish national team over the German one.
German-born but of Turkish lineage, the 20-year-old has been at the centre of a tug-of-war between the two nations due to the massive promise he has shown ever since his days as standout talent of Schalke's youth system.
The fact that he featured during 12 minutes of Germany's friendly defeat against Norway last week was expected to put to bed speculation about his international future, but the rumours persisted as he is still technically eligible to suit up for Turkey.
"That plays no role for me because I have decided 100 per cent that I want to play for the Germany national team," Ozil told reporters when alerted to the fact that it is still not too late for him to opt for Turkey according to FIFA regulations.
