OFFICIAL: Hertha Berlin Sign Cufre

Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin have completed the signing of Argentinian Leandro Damian Cufre from French side Monaco.
The 30-year-old defensive player has been handed a contract until 30 June 2009 by the German capital club.

“We are delighted that in Leandro Cufre we have been able to sign an internationally experienced player, who can play as a right or left-sided defender,” explained Hertha manager Dieter Hoeness.

The player was equally as enthusiastic about his move to the Bundesliga third-place side.

“I am very happy to be given the chance to play for such a famous club as Hertha BSC. I want to do my bit to help the club achieve their goals and I am looking forward to the Bundesliga.”

Cufre has already taken part in his first training session with his new team-mates.

The South American started his career at Gimnasia La Plata before moving to Roma in 2002. He went on loan to Siena for a season before switching to the south of France with Monaco.

He has 17 international caps for Argentina.
