Werder Bremen's Tim Borowski has been dealt another injury blow after damaging a ligament in his left knee during training on Tuesday morning.
The midfielder only recently returned to action following a series of ankle problems and had to receive treatment on a number of occasions from physiotherapist Holger Berger during the session.
"Of course, it's pretty brutal how many times I have been hit with injuries this season, " Borowski told Werder Bremen's official club website.
"Now, we have to see how the healing process goes and how much time it will take."
The 30-year-old will undergo further tests to determine the significance of the injury, although it is feared he may miss the rest of the season.
There were further casualties from the training session with striker Sandro Wagner twisting his ankle in a challenge with teammate Philipp Bargfrede, and the 23-year-old will also have an examination to assess the extent of the problem.
Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf is awaiting the fitness of Marko Marin to ease the selection process after the playmaker could only complete one-on-one training due to an ankle knock.
"I have some issues with my ankle from the St Pauli match and therefore took a break," Marin stated.
