RUMOURS: Madrid eye Koscielny as Varane replacement

Zinedine Zidane is reluctant to allow his young centre-back to join Bayern Munich, but sees the Arsenal man as the perfect player to fill the void at Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid will look to sign Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny this summer if they lose Raphael Varane, according to Foot Mercato.

France international Varane has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich, and though Zinedine Zidane is reluctant to let the centre-back leave, he is weighing up potential replacements.

And he sees compatriot Koscielny as the perfect man to fill the void and challenge first-choice duo Sergio Ramos and Pepe for a starting berth.
