Diego Maradona's Al Wasl set to sign Uruguayan striker Juan Manuel Olivera

Spanish midfielder Francisco Yeste has been forced out with the Penarol striker expected to fill the Emirati club's foreign quota pending a medical

Penarol striker Juan Manuel Olivera is poised to join Diego Maradona's Al Wasl pending a medical.

Maradona has identified the 29-year-old as a key target to go alongside Chilean international Edson Puch and Brazilian Alex de Souza as the club's foreign contingent.

Al Wasl confirmed a deal for Olivera, who has previous experience in Asia with Al Shabab and Suwon Bluewings, was close in an official statement on Twitter.

"Manuel Olivera reaches Dubai in 48hrs to undergo his medical before joining Al Wasl after Maradona requested for the player personally,” the statement said.

Olivera's expected signing appears to have forced Spanish midfielder Francisco Yeste out at Al Wasl with the club using Twitter to thank him for his contributions during the 2010-11 season.

"Al Wasl would like to thank Fran Yeste for his time at Wasl and for what he has given to the club and we wish him all the best," the club tweeted.
