Official: Former Brazil international Ze Roberto joins Qatari club Al Gharafa

The 37-year-old midfielder has decided to leave Germany after long career in the Bundesliga where he made the most appearances by any foreigner

Veteran Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto has turned down a contract extension with Hamburg SV to join Qatari club Al Gharafa.

The 37-year-old Brazilian, who won 84 internationals caps from 1995 to 2007, has signed a two-year contract with Al Gharafa.

The former Bayern and Leverkusen man had been offered a one-year extension by Hamburg.

Ze Roberto will replace compatriot Juninho at Al Gharafa who has opted to return to Brazil.

Al Gharafa, who are coached by former Senegal boss Bruno Metsu, finished second in the 2010-11 season.
