Harry Kewell Optimistic Australia Can Do Well During Asian Cup

Harry Kewell says he is optimistic Australia can do well during the Asian Cup.
Harry Kewell believes Australia have learned from their past Asian Cup mistakes, and are ready to perform well in the 2011 edition, starting with the Socceroos' opening match against India.

The Galatasaray winter is backing his team-mates to do well, as the side is at full strength heading into the tournament.

"We are not underestimating India by any means because any team which has come this far and got through qualification deserves the utmost respect," the former Liverpool player told The World Game. "We also know our own capabilities and we must back ourselves to do well without being in any way over confident.

"If we perform the way we know we can it would put us in great shape in the group. But we have to do the job first and not get ahead of ourselves in any way.

"We are determined to get off to a good start, build some momentum and confidence to take with us through the tournament. We have learned a lot of lessons from the past and it’s vital to set a platform to build on.

"We are at full strength and full of belief. We feel we have the team to do very well. Our aim is to now back it up with performances and that is what we are all working on.

"We're not making any guarantees on how far we will go in the tournament but we willl give it everything we have," he concluded.
