Fulham and Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has revealed he is "very disappointed" to hear Liverpool have sacked coach Roy Hodgson.
The shot-stopper was under the guidance of the former Reds boss at the Cottagers last season, helping the side to reach the Europa League final.
"Obviously I’m very disappointed for Hodgson and Mike Kelly, who was his assistant when they were at Fulham," the Australian custodian told Goal.com. "A lot of our success at Fulham was down to them.
"This is football as the demands are high."
The Socceroos 'keeper also believes India deserve to be in the Asian Cup, despite the criticism the country has received over its qualifying, with the two nations meeting on Monday afternoon.
"The first objective is of course to win the first game," he affirmed. "India deserves to be at the tournament and we are focusing on each game at a time.
"We have to give our 100% and be on top of our game because all our good sides out here."
