English Championship club Peterborough United have signed 14-year-old Hong Kong wonderkid Mark Chan Chun-lok.
The youngster sufficiently impressed everyone at the club during a six-week trial and chairman Barry Fry has rewarded the teenager with a contract that will run until the end of the current season.
“It is a dream come true,” said Chun-lok, as quoted by the official AFC website. “I hope one day I can go up to another level by playing in the higher tier of English football.”
Chun-lok is a very highly rated prospect in his homeland, where he has been dubbed 'The Hong Kong Cristiano Ronaldo'.
He earned the opportunity of a trial with Peterborough United as part of a scholarship with Brook House College, that he earned via the Hong Kong ‘Dreams Come True’ programme.
Brooke House College released a statement saying, “Mark has outstanding talent. He is a confident lad despite being just 14 years of age. He certainly has the ability to go even further.”
