Japanese side Jubilo Iwata have received some disturbing news from the treatment table in the aftermath of their 3-0 league victory against Kyoto Sanga this weekend.
Experienced glovesman Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi was stretchered off and taken to the hospital following a collision with an opponent during the game.
The 34-year-old has suffered a broken leg and will therefore be sidelined for about six months. Kawaguchi will not only be out for the rest of this campaign, but he could also miss the start of next season due to his lengthy rehabilitation process.
The experienced shot-stopper has made well over 100 international appearances and represented Japan at three different World Cups.
He tried his luck in Europe from 2001-05, but failed to make an impact at Portsmouth and Nordsjaelland.
