Milan Macala has left his position as head coach of Bahrain by mutual consent.
The well-travelled Czech tactician took over the team in 2007 and almost steered the Gulf nation to the 2010 World Cup, missing out after losing the final play-off against New Zealand 1-0 over two legs.
"The contract was ended in a mutual agreement between the two parties according to the decisions of the executive committee of the Football Association," said a Bahrain Football Association statement.
Macala led Bahrain through a successful qualification campaign for the 2011 Asian Cup and the team was drawn against Australia, South Korea and India.
The 67 year-old has also coached Kuwait, UAE and Oman.
