Iran: Rahman Rezaei Moves To Qatar's Al Ahli

One of Asia's best-known backmen is on the move...
Iranian defender Rahman Rezaei has moved to Qatar to join Al Ahli. The former international star was tempted away from Tehran giants Persepolis by a one-year deal reported to be worth $700,000.

The 34-year-old is likely to hang up his boots after the end of the campaign with the newly promoted club.

"I'm happy to join Al Ahli," Rezaei told the club's website.

"Al Ahli are a good side and they have a lot of talented players that will help the team achieve a good position in the league next season."

The big defender played in Italy from 2001-2008, enjoying spells with Perugia, Messina and Livorno.

His performances earned him the nickname 'The Minister Of Defence'.
