Yoo Byung-soo has staked his claim for a place in South Korea’s World Cup squad by scoring all four goals in Incheon United’s 4-0 win over Asian Champions Pohang Steelers on Sunday.
The 22 year-old score 14 times in 2009 but, before the weekend, has yet to get on the scoresheet in 2010.
That changed with two goals in each half to end Incheon’s five game losing streak.
“We were under pressure after losing those games,” said Yoo after the match, “so I am very happy to get the goals that gave us an important victory.”
“I was worried that I wasn’t playing so well but I received advice from my team-mates and kept working hard and today I saw the result.”
Elsewhere, FC Seoul won the top of the table clash at home to Ulsan Horang-I 3-0 to go into first in the league.
Goals from Dejan Damjanovic, Adilson and Ha Dae-sung gave the hosts their fourth straight win.
