Japan Too Good For Korea In JOMO Cup

Japan has the regional bragging rights...
The J-League All Stars put their K-League equivalents to the sword on Saturday evening, winning 4-1 at Incheon World Cup Stadium.

It was a comfortable victory for the select XL coached by Kashima Antlers boss Oswaldo Oliviera as they avenged last summer’s 3-1 defeat in Tokyo by the Koreans.

After a strong start from the K-League team on a warm and humid night on the west coast, Kashima Antlers striker Marquinhos fired the Japanese team ahead after 14 minutes, although a deflection from Li Weifeng played a part.

The J-Leaguers took control after the break, and on the hour, Kyoto Sanga’s Korean defender, Lee Jung-soo, scooped a loose ball home from close range.

Two goals followed in succession from Kengo Nakamura and Juninho.

With seven minutes remaining, Choi Sung-kuk was brought down in the area and fired home the resultant penalty to make the scoreline a little more respectable for the hosts.
