Real Madrid starlet Sergio Canales could be on his way out of the club this summer, as ambitious Serie A side Roma have shown an interest in signing the attacking midfielder, Il Corriere dello Sport reports.
New Roma coach Luis Enrique is eager to add some more creativity to his squad and the Spanish tactician sees his young compatriot as the perfect addition.
Nevertheless, the capital giants face an uphill task to lure Canales to the Italian capital as the midfielder has a contract until the summer of 2016 with Real Madrid, who will likely command a substantial fee for the player.
Additionally, the Stadio Olimpico outfit face stiff competition in the race for Canales' services, with clubs such as Aston Villa, Everton, Wolfsburg and Schalke also linked with the playmaker in the past few months.
The 20-year-old joined Real Madrid from Racing Santander in the summer of 2010, but the Spain under-21 international has failed to make an impact at Santiago Bernabeu.
