Discussion with Zinedine Zidane could persuade Lens' Raphael Varane to join Real Madrid - report

The young defender is considering his future and Zidane is looking to assure the player that he will be given first-team action at the capital giants next season
Promising Lens defender Raphael Varane is considering a transfer to Real Madrid after discussing a move to the Santiago Bernabeu with Zinedine Zidane, L'Equipe reports.

The 18-year-old centre-back is considered to be one of the most promising defenders in Ligue 1, and he has been linked with Manchester United, Lille and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the Spanish giants.

Speculation suggests Varane has been convinced by former France international Zidane that he will play a role in Madrid's first team next year, and it could sway his decision as to where to continue his career.

Varane exclusively told Goal.com about his admiration of Real Madrid on Tuesday, although added that he had yet to make a final decision on his future.

Manchester United had reportedly tabled a bid of €10.5 million for the starlet last week, but neither Lens nor Varane have commented on a proposed transfer so far, and the France under-21 starlet is expected to make his decision in the coming days.
