Reports emanating from Spain suggest that Real Madrid team-mates Fernando Gago and Pedro Leon were involved in a incident during Monday’s training session that almost led the players to come to blows.
Marca comments that Leon was displeased by a vigorous challenge from his Argentine compatriot during a bounce match, which left the winger in pain, and subsequently the pair exchanged insults.
The training session then continued as normal, although tension was in the air, with Leon remaining dissatisfied by the explanation given by Gago.
The heated discussions continued in the dressing room after practice, with a number of their colleagues forced to step in before the situation became physical.
Goal.com yesterday reported that Gago and Leon had been left out of the squad for tonight’s Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite being fully fit, and it appears their exclusions are directly correlated to this alleged altercation.
