Villarreal are considering a bid for Czech winger Jaroslav Plasil, as they look to rebuild following the departure of coach Manuel Pellegrini to Real Madrid.
Former Espanyol boss Ernest Valverde has been installed as the Chilean’s replacement, and he has pinpointed the Osasuna winger as one of his first transfer targets, as he looks to mount a challenge in both La Liga and the Europa League.
27-year old Plasil made the switch to Spain in 2008, following a five year spell at Monaco, and was pivotal as Osasuna managed to avoid relegation on the final day of last season, defeating Real Madrid 2-1 in Pamplona.
French newspaper La Provence reports that his agent said of any potential move, “It was a surprise to see him [Plasil] associated with Marseille or Bordeaux, as there has been no contact with either of these clubs.
“At Osasuna, his career has stalled a little, he is willing to remain in Spain. Villarreal have approached us.”
Plasil is a seasoned Czech Republic international and, if the player chooses to remain in Spain, it appears that Villarreal will be his most likely destination.
