Barcelona interested in Alaba - report

The Spanish giants are keen to add a new left-back to their squad in the summer transfer window, and the Austria international has joined Jordi Alba as the prime targets
David Alaba has caught the attention of Barcelona with his outstanding performances for Bayern Munich in the 2011-12 campaign, El Mundo Deportivo reports.

The Blaugrana are looking to add some fresh blood to their defence ahead of the 2012-13 campaign, and have long been linked with a search for a new left-back.

Valencia defender Jordi Alba remains the club's first choice for the position, but they are also taking an interest in the 19-year-old Alaba.

The Austria international made his first-team debut at Bayern in February 2010, and has developed into a key player under head coach Jupp Heynckes this term.

Nevertheless, Barcelona face a tough task to lure Alaba to Camp Nou if they opt to make a move for the versatile youngster.

The youngster has a contract with Bayern until the summer of 2015, and it is very unlikely that the Champions League finalists will consider selling their left-back.

Additionally, the former Austria Vienna starlet has revealed that he is very happy with life at the Allianz Arena.
