Real Madrid's Marcelo could have broken Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas' leg - Donato

The former Spain international has looked back at the events in last week's Spanish Supercopa and added that Jose Mourinho always treats him with respect
Former Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Donato has voiced his opinion that Real Madrid defender Marcelo didn't realise the consequences of his tackle on Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas in last week's Spanish Supercopa match.

Marcelo earned himself a red card in the closing stages of the game with a two-footed challenge on Fabregas as Barca ran out 3-2 winners, and although the latter escaped without a serious injury, Donato feels that the Madrid full-back crossed the line.

"I don't think Marcelo realised that he could easily have broken Fabregas' leg with that tackle and end his career," Donato was quoted as saying by La Informacion.

"The players should think before they act. They ought to realise that they are an example for children all over the world."

The former Spain international then went on to express his surprise with Jose Mourinho's aggressive behaviour after the match last Wednesday, adding: "Mourinho is a great person and has always treated me with respect. He's always nice and gentle. He's nothing like that."
