Barcelona's Carles Puyol to miss Spanish Supercopa tie against Real Madrid - report

The experienced defender has yet to resume regular training following knee surgery earlier this summer and is unlikely to feature in the two-legged tie
La Liga holders Barcelona will have to make do without the services of Carles Puyol when they take on Copa del Rey winners Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercopa later this month, Marca reports.

The first-leg of the curtain-raiser will be played at Santiago Bernabeu on August 14, with the return being held at Camp Nou three days later, but it's unlikely that Puyol will feature due to his ongoing injury problems.

The Spain international sustained a knee injury back in January and returned to match action toward the end of the 2010-11 campaign after a three-month lay-off, but decided to undergo surgery in June after all as his knee continued to cause him problems.

He resumed individual training last month and recently expressed optimism at the speed of his recovery, but the stopper still hasn't resumed squad training, and could also miss the European Supercup match against Porto on August 26.
