Lazio are considering making a move for Barcelona duo Ibrahim Afellay and Gabriel Milito as they attempt to bolster their squad ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, Sport reports.

The Serie A side are eager to strengthen their ranks and have already added the likes of Federico Marchetti, Abdoulay Konko and Senad Lulic so far this summer.

Club president Claudio Lotito hasn't completed his business in the close season, however, and has now allegedly set his sights on the Barcelona duo.

The 25-year-old Afellay joined the Champions League winners from PSV in January and has a contract until the summer of 2014. but has been unable to secure a starting berth so far and the competition for places will only further heighten with the expected arrival of Udinese's Alexis Sanchez.

Nevertheless, Afellay seems determined to stay put and prove his worth, as he recently voiced his desire to become a key player at Camp Nou in the coming year.

The 30-year-old Milito, meanwhile, has been out of favour due to a string of injuries and a loss of form, and the centre-back has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich and Malaga in recent months.

Milito, who has a contract until 2012, is currently involved at the Copa America with Argentina's national side and the defender has made it clear that he will not make a decision on his future until after the tournament.
