Promising starlet Sergio Canales could be set to leave La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer transfer window as Ligue 1 champions Lille have shown an interest in signing the attacking midfielder, Marca reports.
Lille have allegedly already contacted Madrid about the possibility of a summer transfer and the capital giants have informed Canales of the interest.
The French side are looking to add some more creativity to their squad as they prepare for Champions League football next season and head coach Rudi Garcia reportedly sees the 20-year-old as the perfect addition.
Canales joined Madrid from Racing Santander last summer, but has so far been unable to make an impact at Santiago Bernabeu. It's unlikely that the Spain under-21 starlet will get much playing time in the 2011-12 campaign and he has therefore set his sights on a move, either on a temporary or a permanent basis.
Lille face stiff competition in the race for Canales' services, however, as Serie A side Roma are keen on signing the midfielder as well, while Premier League sides such as Arsenal, Everton and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the player.
