Malaga are set to complete the signing of defender Nacho Monreal from fellow Spanish club Osasuna later on today.
The Primera Division club confirmed the transfer on their official website and added that the left-back will undergo a medical test on Wednesday. The 25-year-old will then be officially unveiled as a Malaga player.
Reports in the Spanish media suggest that Malaga will pay Osasuna around €6 million as transfer fee for the Spaniard.
Monreal progressed through the youth system at Osasuna, and has played four times for European and world champions Spain. He will become Malaga’s third signing of the summer after the arrival of Argentine winger Diego Buonanotte and Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Malaga, who were purchased by a member of the Qatari royal family last year, are reinforcing their squad in an attempt to establish themselves as a major force in the Spanish top-flight.
