Young defender Cesar Azpilicueta could be on his way out of Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille in the summer transfer window as La Liga outfit Valencia have shown an interest in signing the full-back, Marca reports.
Valencia are unhappy with the performances of current right-sided players Miguel and Bruno, and are eager to strengthen their back-line this summer, with head coach Unai Emery reportedly considering the 21-year-old to be the perfect signing.
Azpilicueta came through the ranks of the Osasuna youth academy and joined Marseille in the summer of 2010. However, a knee injury prevented him from making an impact in his first season in France and his spot in the starting XI has since been taken by new signing Rod Fanni.
The young stopper is keen to return to Spain in order to relaunch his career, but Marseille's hefty asking price could pose a problem for Valencia, as OM are looking to at least recoup the €6 million they paid for him last summer.
Valencia face stiff competition from Malaga in the race for Azpilicueta's services, as the big-spending Andalucians are allegedly keen to take the player on loan with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
