Giuseppe Rossi can leave Villarreal if a good offer arrives - Juan Carlos Garrido

Villarreal coach Juan Carlos Garrido admits Giuseppe Rossi could be sold if the club receives a good offer as he reacts to the speculation linking him with a switch to European champions Barcelona.

The Italy international has been strongly tipped to join the Catalan giants after his agent Federico Pastorello said talks had begun, but his statement was watered-down by the Yellow Submarine who claimed there was no offer from Camp Nou officials.

Vice-president Fernando Roig Nogueroles insisted the 24-year-old was not for sale, but Garrido suggests he may leave.

"If we get an offer that is good for Villarreal then it will be accepted and we will thank the player for all his efforts. From there, we will hire players who make Villarreal even bigger," Garrido told AS.com.

"There are many rumours which suggest otherwise, but all players reach a certain stage, and we have to address their needs.

"If he does leave then we will replace him with the necessary players. Rossi has played many games and scored many goals and so we have to prepare for possible sales."

Rossi, who has a contract until 2016, struck 18 goals in La Liga last term and helped them qualify for the Champions League.
