Ruud van Nistelrooy is on the verge of moving to Malaga as the prolific striker is currently at the Liga club wrapping up the final details.
The 34-year-old is expected to sign a one-year deal with Malaga later on Wednesday with the option for an additional season, according to Spanish publication AS. The Rosaleda outfit had been in talks with Van Nistelrooy for the last few days.
Van Nistelrooy expressed his desire to return to Spain last week and has now decided to join the Boquerones.
The Dutchman was looking for a new club after leaving Bundesliga side Hamburg on a free transfer this summer.
Malaga are keen to strengthen their squad in an attempt to fight for the European places in 2011-12.
Both parties have yet to confirm the transfer, but an official statement could be released later on Wednesday.
