Sevilla's Martin Caceres ruled out for rest of season

Sevilla's Uruguayan defender, who is on loan at the club from Barcelona, is out for the remainder of the season after lacerating his kidney in a freak clash against Almeria
Martin Caceres will miss the rest of Sevilla's season after being hospitalised after the 1-0 win over Almeria at the weekend.

The club revealed on their official website that the Uruguayan was forced to remain in hospital for 24 hours with a lacerated kidney, following a challenge with Michael Jakobsen.

The injury will be a blow for the Andalusian club's run in, as they battle against Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao for Europa League qualification places.

The club statement also identified that Cacares had a subcapsular hematoma in the kidney, and that Sevilla and the player will need to "have patience to be able to return."

The 24-year-old is on loan at the club from Barcelona, and the injury could mean the Montevideo born defender has played his last game for Sevilla.
