Sevilla defender Alexis has suffered a knee injury in training and was forced to leave the club's facility on a stretcher.
The former Valencia stopper sustained the problem during a bounce match at the end of Thursday's session, and had to be helped from the field in obvious discomfort.
The club's medical staff did not issue an immediate diagnosis, opting to assess the injury once the swelling had receded before providing a recovery time.
Alexis was expected to face Villarreal in Sunday evening's clash at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as a replacement for Federico Fazio, but it is unlikely that he will be able to play any part in the match.
Good news for Sevilla however comes in the form of Frederic Kanoute's comeback from a muscle strain, and he is in contention to face the Yellow Submarines.
