Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said Pep Guardiola has only himself to blame for things failing to click for Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Camp Nou, after the coach pleaded with the club to land the striker two years ago.
The former Camp Nou chief has revealed it was the leaders on the bench who wanted Ibrahimovic, now of Milan, in a €66 million transfer in 2009.
Last week Ibrahimovic said his only problem in Spain was Guardiola, which led to his transfer to ther Rossoneri in August 2010.
"[Samuel] Eto'o was set to leave, and Zlatan was wanted by our coach and the technical team," Laporta told Sport.es.
"I was given three options: [David] Villa, [Diego] Forlan and Ibrahimovic.
"There was also a fourth name, but this was never revealed to the media.
"As for Eto'o, he did not want to go to Valencia or [Atletico] Madrid, and so the only way for him was Inter."
