The pressure Jose Mourinho has applied on Real Madrid over a contract extension for defender Pepe has paid off according to AS, and the Portuguese international will sign a new deal in the near future.
Pepe had been negotiating with los Blancos for some time before the new deal stalled concerning the centre-back's demands for a salary increase. The defender currently earns €1.8 million a year but wanted €3.8m.
When Pepe puts pen to paper to secure his future in the Spanish capital, it's believed he'll be tied to the club until 2015.
The 27-year-old had been attracting interest from rivals Barcelona and clubs across Europe, who were preparing to swoop for the defender with his contract expiring next year.
