Real Madrid Defender David Mateos: We Hope Hercules Can Do Us A Favour Against Barcelona

Real Madrid stopper David Mateos hopes Hercules can take points from Barcelona in their La Liga meeting on Saturday.
Real Madrid defender David Mateos has explained he is hopeful that Hercules can take points from Barcelona when the sides meet in Alicante on Saturday.

The 23-year-old stopper has been on the periphery of Los Blancos’ first team and has featured both in the Copa del Rey and Champions League, but has yet to make a full league appearance for the first team.

Speaking to journalists yesterday about chasing down the Blaugrana, he stated that he hopes Hercules can defeat the champions for the second time in the Primera Division this season.

He remarked: “Every game is different. In the Camp Nou Hercules won a major victory and nobody would have bet on that. Now we are confident that they can do us a favour.

“We know that we have to go and win our game [against Osasuna], and keep adding points. The way to win is to deploy the game that we have been producing all year and to not worry about the games of our rival.

“Since the season started it was clear that we were going for three titles, among them the league, and we are right there fighting with Barcelona.”
