Sporting Gijon have signed Porto midfielder Andre Castro until the end of the season, the Spanish club confirmed on their official website.
Castro was used sparingly by Andre Villas-Boas, racking up only 104 minutes across six games so far this season for the Portuguese table-toppers, and Sporting were more than happy to snap him up.
The 22-year-old is set to arrive in Gijon and will undergo a medical examination before being presented to the media tomorrow afternoon. He will wear the number 16 for the club.
Castro began his career at Gondomar before he joined Porto. In 2007-08, he managed to break into the senior side, but was later loaned out to then-second division outfit Olhanense, helping the team gain promotion.
