Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas believes that they can accomplish their objectives this season under coach Jose Mourinho and win titles.
In an extensive interview with Spanish sports daily Marca, the Spain international discussed a lot of things, primary among which was los Blancos' new-found competitive spirit and winning mentality this campaign.
"This year will allow me to concentrate exclusively on Real Madrid to achieve the team's goals," explained Casillas. "I can't conceive of a year without winning titles here. I've been nine years on the first team and people always use the word 'fiasco' when we don't win any titles.
"I believe we deserve a title due to the great team we have and our hard work. We know Madridismo is very demanding and that we can't ask supporters for time despite being a very young team."
The World Cup winner continued, "Mourinho is a phenomenon. I've said it many times and I will never tire of it. He knows exactly what he wants and he wants to work for Real Madrid.
"He is delighted to be here and very excited about this project. I wouldn't hesitate to defend or make a stand for him. Neither would anyone else on the squad.
"We are the ones who have to understand his methods, not those outside the Club. Those who don't agree with his personality don't know him. I can assure you he is funny, laid back, natural, humble.
"No one on the team could say a bad word against him. Mourinho knows just how to deal with every player and with the press. You will never catch him with his guard down.
"The coach believes there have to be team get-togethers at a hotel before a match so that we spend time together. It must be respected because it has worked so far. I would tell him if I thought it wasn't working, but we have won practically every game, so we have to deal with it."
Casillas also gave his thoughts on some of his team-mates and remarked, "I'm worried about [Gonzalo] Higuain's injury because it came when he was in top form and he is a vital player on the team. Kaka looks happy and he is enjoying himself.
"He will be like a winter transfer signing and will help us a lot. Karim Benzema has changed radically. He talks much more with everyone because he speaks Spanish very well now. He jokes around with all of us."
