Real Madrid Will Not Bow To Wolfsburg’s Demands Over Edin Dzeko - Report

Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko will not be making a winter move to Real Madrid because los Blancos deem him to be too expensive, Bild has reported.

The 24-year-old was viewed not only as a potential stand-in during Gonzalo Higuain’s absence, which could stand at around two months, but he would also provide genuine competition for the Argentine in the striking role at the Bernabeu. However, with die Wolfe setting his asking price to €40 million, Jose Mourinho’s men will not move.

Still in need of additions to their offensive arsenal, Madrid will instead examine the possibility of acquiring Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao or Hugo Almeida from Werder Bremen.

Reports suggest that they only have €25m to spend, likely preventing them from signing Llorente, who is expected to be transferred for his release clause, which stands at around €36m.

Dzeko’s future, meanwhile, would appear to lie in Italy, where the media are convinced that a summer move to Juventus is all but a done deal.
