Villarreal's Marcos Senna: We Are Aiming For A Champions League Place

Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna says that they are not aspiring to win the Spanish Primera Division this season but are aiming for a top four finish.

The Yellow Submarine have made a great start to the season and are currently third in the table. But Juan Carlos Garrido's side are already eight points behind leaders Madrid and seven behind second-placed Barcelona after 12 rounds of matches, and Senna is eager to lock up a Champions League spot.

"All we can do is keep going at our own pace and fight our own battle. We have to keep working towards our objective of a Champions League place," he told Fifa.com.

The Euro 2008 winner with Spain also backed compatriot Xavi for the FIFA Ballon d'Or award.

“There are a lot of great players in there but I’d have to say that the Barcelona guys - [Lionel] Messi, Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta - are my favourites.

"Personally, I’d give it to Xavi, but it’s not an easy choice.”
